From Parent to Partner: Introducing Lauren Campbell as Home Works’ Director of Program & Community Engagement

Our mission here at Home Works centers on one powerful idea: students thrive when schools and families build authentic relationships. With that in mind, we’re honored to introduce Lauren Campbell as the newest member of our leadership team.

Lauren’s path to becoming Director of Program and Community Engagement began in the classroom and has continued through her work in the nonprofit sector with a special focus on literacy and STEM initiatives. What makes Lauren’s role at Home Works especially meaningful is that she has experienced our organization’s impact firsthand as a parent.

Lauren shares:

“I’m excited to serve as the Director of Program and Community Engagement at Home Works and contribute to an organization whose mission aligns so closely with the work I care most about, which is strengthening the connection between schools, families, and communities.

My background is in education. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Middle School Math Education, my Master’s degree in School Counseling, and I spent seven years teaching middle school math. My time in the classroom shaped the way I think about education and the importance of making sure that every student feels supported both academically and personally.

Over the past three and a half years, I have continued this work in the nonprofit sector, focusing on programs that expand educational opportunities and support underserved and historically marginalized communities. What has always driven my work is a commitment to community, equity, and the belief that strong relationships between schools and families create better outcomes for students.

My connection to Home Works is also personal. When my son was in third grade, his teacher participated in a Home Works home visit with our family. I remember how excited he was to show his teacher his room and share his world outside of school. That simple experience helped him feel more comfortable and connected in the classroom, and it showed me firsthand the power of building authentic relationships between families and educators.

I’m grateful to now be part of the Home Works team and to continue working alongside schools, families, and community partners to ensure that every child feels supported, connected, and ready to learn.”

With her extensive experience in this space and passion for this work, Lauren will help strengthen the relationships at the heart of Home Works’ mission and ensure every student has the support to feel seen, valued, and ready to learn.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Lauren and feel free to reach out to her directly at lcampbell@teamhomeworks.org

All my best,

Ashli Florek
