A trusted partner for schools and families

Home Works is a relationship-centered, evidence-backed program that builds bridges between home and school, and proves that when families and teachers work together, students thrive.

Serving Missouri since 2007

Founded in 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri, Home Works partners with families and teachers to strengthen the bridge between home and school. What began in a handful of classrooms has grown to reach more than 120 early childhood, elementary, middle, and high schools across urban, suburban, and rural districts and charter networks.

Our work is grounded in evidence-based family engagement — practices proven to improve academic and well-being outcomes by building trust and collaboration between families and educators. Home Works equips teachers with the tools, coaching, and support they need to connect meaningfully with parents and caregivers, ensuring that every child benefits from a shared circle of care around their learning.

We focus on what strengthens learning environments for children—at school and at home.

We improve:

  • Family-teacher relationship quality

  • Students’ classroom behavior and engagement

  • School attendance

  • Reading and math proficiency

We increase:

  • Positive, two-way communication between families and teachers

  • Families’ confidence and ability to support learning at home

We reduce:

  • Barriers that prevent families from fully engaging with their child’s education

Our Mission

We partner with schools to build their capacity to engage families and communities for students’ success.

Our Vision

All schools effectively engage families in students’ learning.

Family Voices in Action

When it comes to creating lasting change in education, the most powerful voices often come from those closest to the students – their families.

In this special edition of Spark & Share Tuesday: Family Voices in Action, we highlighted the real experiences of parents and caregivers who have partnered with Home Works. Moderated by our Board Member and Ameren’s Direct of Community Engagement and Impact, Constance Taylor, this conversation lifted up the stories of families whose engagement is helping transform school communities.

I'm the Jennings School District Activity Coordinator, as well as a parent here of five Jennings School District students. The reason I love the Home Works program is because it gives all of our parents and staff an opportunity to connect with one another. It encourages engagement in the community, and it allows for us as staff members to go into the students’ environment . . . just to have that experience, to see what's going on with the student, not just in the classroom, but entirely, I think that right there shows a sense of community.

The program helps with just letting everyone know that we are a village, and it takes a village to raise a child.
