When families and teachers work together, kids thrive.
We work with educators to strengthen the partnership between home and school, so children feel supported, connected, and ready to learn.

The saying holds true: it takes a village to raise a child. Home Works is a vital part of that village, offering support, training, and essential resources to both educators and families.
— Jermaine Pettis, Volunteer
It really does take a village. We’re here to help you build it.
At Home Works, we believe the most powerful support system a child can have is one where their family and teacher are on the same team. That kind of meaningful partnership doesn’t happen by accident—it takes time, care, and structure. Through Home Visits, Family Dinners, and Family Learning Workshops, we help build real relationships—not just check boxes.
Together, we improve learning, behavior, attendance, and family engagement
Students spend just 14% of their year in the classroom.
We focus on the other 86%.
This is untapped time shaped by families—their routines, their language, their hopes for their child. That’s where learning can be reinforced, extended, and made meaningful.
But right now, most schools aren’t structured to support that.
This disconnect leaves potential on the table. It also leaves too many students trying to navigate school without a bridge between their two most important worlds: home and school.
The impact is real
Families want to help. Teachers are doing everything they can. The challenge isn’t commitment—it’s capacity and structure.
That’s what Home Works makes possible.
When schools have what they need to engage families this deeply, the outcomes speak for themselves.
Home Works students meet academic growth goals at rates higher rates than their peers.
of teachers said home visits improved family relationships
Parents reported spending 35 more minutes per day on learning at home
74% of students with behavior or engagement concerns showed improvement

What partnership looks like in action
Our programs meet families where they are: with respect, consistency, and care. Whether in a home, a classroom, or a shared meal, we build strong relationships that help children learn and grow.
Want to see how it works in your school or community?
To reimagine what school can be, we don’t need to build something new—we need to connect the village that’s already here: families and teachers, working as one.
—Karen Evans, retired Reading Interventionist, St. Louis Public Schools
